Meet Dr. Lili
REGISTERED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR INTERn
EMDR-TRAINED & EMDRIA APproved THERAPIST
Dr. Lili Hurioglu is a trauma-focused therapist with a strong foundation in education, psychology, and research. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Sciences and an M.S. in Education from Çukurova University in Turkey, as well as an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Southwest. Before transitioning fully into clinical work, she served as an Assistant Professor and postdoctoral researcher, teaching at Istanbul University, Bahçeşehir University, and Florida State University. Her academic work includes psychoeducational programs for incarcerated mothers and research recognized by Turkey’s Ministry of Justice.
Dr. Hurioglu specializes in EMDR and trauma-focused psychotherapy for adults seeking to address unresolved experiences, attachment wounds, and longstanding survival patterns. Her clients may experience anxiety, shame, emotional overwhelm, perfectionism, self-criticism, chronic pain, or performance-related difficulties, including fear of re-injury. Many function well under pressure or are accustomed to caring for others, yet struggle to feel safe, supported, or at ease. Her work explores how past experiences continue to shape emotional responses, relationships, identity, and performance.
EMDR Therapy and Intensives
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a central focus of Dr. Hurioglu’s clinical practice. She offers weekly EMDR therapy as well as EMDR Intensives for appropriate candidates seeking extended, focused treatment. Intensives provide dedicated time for trauma-focused work and may be considered when a longer session format is clinically appropriate. Consultation, clinical screening, and individualized treatment planning help determine whether an intensive is a suitable option.
Her approach integrates EMDR with attachment-based and IFS-informed work, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and strengths-based interventions. These approaches are incorporated within individualized trauma-focused treatment.
Dr. Hurioglu provides a thoughtful, collaborative space where clients can address unresolved experiences, reduce trauma-related distress, and develop greater emotional flexibility, self-trust, and freedom in their daily lives.
