Meet Lili
REGISTERED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR INTERn
EMDR-TRAINED THERAPIST
Dr. Lili Hurioglu is a bilingual Turkish-speaking Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern with a strong foundation in education, psychology, and research. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Sciences and an M.S. in Education from Çukurova University in Turkey, as well as an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Southwest. Before transitioning fully into clinical work, Dr. Hurioglu served as an Assistant Professor and postdoctoral researcher, teaching at Istanbul University, Bahçeşehir University, and Florida State University. Her academic work and research have been widely recognized, including leading psychoeducational programs for incarcerated mothers and adapting assessment tools addressing antisocial attitudes in youth, a project recognized by Turkey’s Ministry of Justice.
Today, Dr. Hurioglu brings this depth of knowledge and experience into her therapeutic work with clients. She is an EMDRIA-approved EMDR-trained therapist who specializes in working with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, phobias, and relationship challenges. Her approach is trauma-informed and integrates evidence-based modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness-based practices.
Many of the individuals Dr. Hurioglu works with are navigating the lasting effects of trauma—such as chronic anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or patterns in relationships that once served as protection but now feel limiting or exhausting. Her work helps clients better understand their inner experiences, calm an overwhelmed nervous system, and loosen patterns rooted in survival so they can move toward a life shaped more by choice, balance, and self-trust.
Dr. Hurioglu strives to create a supportive, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe exploring their emotions and experiences. Together, therapy becomes a process of making sense of difficult experiences, strengthening resilience, and reconnecting with a deeper sense of wholeness and well-being.
Beginning therapy can be a meaningful step—especially if you’ve spent years carrying difficult experiences on your own. In your work with Dr. Hurioglu, you’ll have the space to slow down, reflect, and move forward at a pace that feels steady and grounded. If you’re seeking deeper understanding, emotional healing, and lasting change, she welcomes the opportunity to support you on your journey.
